Loris Epis

Loris was born and raised outside of Parma Italy. His passion for horses started with his first ride at 20 years old. While attending the Reining Futurity Final in Italy; he became “completely amazed by this discipline (reining)”. He first came to Canada to work under the guidance of NRHA Professional Dean Brown and in 2007 continued to train under Dean’s wing at Fletcher’s Horse World in Waterford, ON. Over the years Loris has developed his skills both inside and outside the show pen. He has made the Equi-Stats reining statistics list multiple times, including Epis being named in the Top 5 “Up and Coming Open Riders” in 2013 and the top ranked Rider Open Level 1 and Open Level 2 in 2011.
Loris continues to prove himself with a stellar show record and just under $200,000 in NRHA lifetime earnings which makes him currently the highest NRHA money earner in Ontario. His show record includes some remarkable titles; 2009 Congress Intermediate Open champion, 2010 Canadian Open Champion, 2010 NRBC level 1 Open finalist, multiple NRHA Futurity Finalist, 2011 level 1 Congress Futurity Reserve Champion, 2011 NRHA Futurity Open Level 1 and 2 Reserve Champion, 2012 NRHA Derby Open Level 3 Reserve Champion, 2013 AAQH Congress Reining Futurity Open Level 3 Reserve Champion, Multiple Congress Futurity Finalist, Multiple Futurity, Derby, 7 Ups and Open wins throughout North America.
Loris focuses his training program on consistency, preparation and balance and his techniques are largely influenced by his friendship with NRHA professional Andrea Fappani, who just shy of reaching the status of a 4 million dollar rider. “I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to learn from Andrea. He definitely had a big impact in my career and program, I couldn’t wish for any better” says Loris. He views the horses in his program as athletes, and treats them as such. Horses that have made his record possible up to date are; Wimpys Tinseltown, Define Good, SV Save Sum Cash, Custom Maid To Order, Gotta Magnum Dream, Resting Whiz, Walla Wallas Ghost, Electric Boss, ML Wimpys Charlotte, Smoky Little Step, Wimpys Strikes Gold and many others. Loris believes being competitively successful in the show pen is not only about having the best trained horse but is also about having the best prepared horse.
